On his last journey, heading towards his retreat in Yuste, the emperor arrived in Torquemada. This town was visited by the emperor on various occasions, and today it offers many appealing sites to all visitors, from the point of view of both patrimony and landscape.

From the bridge of twenty-five arches that stands over the river Pisuerga, made by Diego Gómez de Ciniega y García de Ciniega, we can enjoy one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the town. A town built of stone and adobe, with an evident medieval layout of the main streets. The house of Juana la Loca (Joanne the Mad), mother of Carlos V, can still be found in the Calle Mayor, as well as the house of writer José Zorrilla.
