The Imperial entourage next stopped in Alaraz. They arrive in Alaraz on the 8th of November, gradually leaving the Salamanca lands behind them already in the southern most part of the comarca de Peñaranda. This small village set in the middle of vast prairies where cattle farming, constituted the area’s main economic activity.
One of Alaraz’s most impressive jewels is its church. Built between the 15th and 16th centuries, it is predominantly of Gothic style over structures from different periods. On the main altar, one can find the Virgen de las Nieves, the village’s patron.
On the outskirts, one can visit the Ermita del Cristo del Monte, that holds an image of Christ that dates back to the second half of the 16th century. The work is attributed to the artist, Bernardino Pérez de Robles.
