Carlos V spent the night of October 18th, 1556, in Dueñas, before heading for Cabezón de Pisuerga, in Valladolid, where he arrived on October 20th. This city welcomed him with arms wide open. He arrived in very good condition, better than when he was in Torquemada, as revealed by the letter from Luis Quijada to Juan Vázquez dated on October 19th.
