After his rest in Pesadas de Burgos, the emperor started towards the capital. Before getting there, he stayed for one night in Hontomín; the date was October 12th. The house where he stayed is located near the Romanesque church, the Iglesia de San Lorenzo.

There is an interesting legend told by the remaining inhabitants of the town, that speaks of the caves near the town. It is said that they communicated directly to the altar in the church, thus permitting the townspeople to take shelter in the caves if the need arose.
