The emperor entered Medina de Pomar on October 9th, 1556. There is a milestone that reminds of the Emperor's passing through the town. Amongst the nobiliary houses, it is the North gate of the town, where we can find the tower-house of the old governor and where the emperor stayed for the night.
A medieval festival recalls the journey made by the emperor since his landing in Laredo and until his arrival in the town. During two days, the town celebrates the "Conmemoración Ruta de Carlos V" (recalling of the route). This way, on Saturday morning there is a medieval market and a number of performances centred around the period of time and the life of Carlos V as part of the main acts, closing with a medieval dinner in the Plaza Mayor, where everyone must be dressed in medieval clothing.
