Following the death of Alphonse (1468), possibly due to poisoning, Isabella was urged by the nobles to proclaim herself queen. According to the conditions of this treaty, Isabella was proclaimed Princess of Asturias, whilst her brother King Henry maintained the privilege of giving his approval to the suitor chosen for Isabella.
