Isabelle I of Castile was born in 1451 in the former palace that now houses the Monastery of Nuestra Señora de Gracia in Madrigal de las Altas Torres (Ávila), and which today draws large numbers of tourists eager to learn more about the history of the figure known as Isabelle the Catholic.
In 1468, at the historic site of the Guisando Stone Bulls in El Tiemblo (Ávila), Isabelle was declared Princess of Asturias. She lived in the city of Segovia and also spent time in Arévalo, where today tourists can visit the magnificent castle. In addition, Tordesillas, Medina de Rioseco, and the city of Valladolid also boast traces of the time Isabelle spent in these lands, and the Royal Palace in Medina del Campo is a must-see spot on this route, as it was here that the Queen died on 26th November 1504.
