Route through the Plateresque altarpieces in the east of the province of Leon - VALLECILLO - Church of San Pedro Apóstol
Renaissance altarpiece from the second third of the 16th century, made up of a structure with three sections and five streets raised above the predella. Likewise, it is topped by a small attic with the image of God the Father and protected by side dust covers. While the predella represents the entire apostolate, the different bodies repeat the same compositional scheme, the first being dedicated to the head of the church, Saint Peter, the second to the Virgin, and the third and last to the Passion of Christ. Accompanying the bulk images of the central street of each one of them, the side streets incorporate painted tables with stories about their hagiography and martyrdom and corresponding iconographic cycles. Restored in 2006.
