It has its origin in the Natural Sciences Office created for pedagogical purposes at the University around 1860. With the passage of time, thanks to the determination and determination of Dr. Hernando Cordovilla and the altruism shown by several donors, such as the Benedito brothers of the Museum of Natural Sciences of Madrid and the Barreras García-Reboredo family, the collection has multiplied its pieces by thousands. Currently, these are distributed in ten rooms, grouped according to scientific criteria, in large sections: lower vertebrates, man, arthropods, geognosia, non-arthropod invertebrates, mammals, paleontology, birds and botany.
