Frías is situated in the upper regions of the Ebro Valley, in the north of Burgos. This historic town boasts a strategically located historic quarter, perched on a rocky outcrop, crowned at one end by the fortress and the Church of San Vicente at the other.
Leading off from the medieval walls, visitors will find the streets such as Mercado and Abundio Fernández, which make their way up along the rocky edges.
The streets run parallel to the edge of the slopes, surrounding the hill, lined with houses that on occasions seem to hang over the rock face.
The historic quarter includes several monuments, such as the castle, the various churches, the Convent of Santa María del Vadillo, the Jurisdiction Column and the medieval bridge that crosses the Ebro. In short, a hilltop location crowned by history.
