In the field of tourist resources of the Community, the gastronomy of Castile and León is one of those classified as strategic by Law 14/2010, of December 9, on Tourism of Castile and León, in its article 54, for being a sign of tourism identity of the Community of Castile and León in national and international spheres, contributing to reinforcing the image of the Community of Castile and León as a global tourist destination.
Decree 46/2015, of July 23, which establishes the organic structure of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, provides in its article 8 that the powers of tourism promotion of cultural and natural heritage correspond to the General Directorate of Tourism. and gastronomic of the Autonomous Community, as well as any other tourist resource or product, and the promotion of its commercialization.
