Between San Juan de la Mata and Cueto, the route runs along a secondary road. You leave the town at its southern end, along a long straight line in which you cross the Canal Alto de El Bierzo. Next there is a road junction, which leads to Arganza. Without taking this detour, we continue to Cueto on a section that overlaps route 1 from Barruelo de Santullán to Balboa, at this point marked with signs for the stage from Toreno to Cacabelos.
