Santander Natural Trail - Mediterranean
- Position
- Castellanos de Bureba
The old Santander-Meditarráneo railway line, designed at the beginning of the 20th century to transport goods between the ports of Santander and Valencia and which entered the province of Burgos through the famous La Engaña tunnel, is currently an attractive natural path. Of the more than two hundred kilometers that run through Burgos lands, more than one hundred and fifty are perfectly conditioned for hiking or cycling between the municipality of Merindad de Valdeporres and Cascajares de las Sierra, including the initial kilometers that start from the tunnel itself. . The rest are covered in the vicinity of where the train tracks were located in the past.
The sections perfectly suited for hiking and cycling go from the La Engaña station, very close to the emblematic tunnel and the town of Quintanilla de Vivar, north of the city of Burgos.
