Salamanca Cave
The Salamanca Cave is the crypt of the old Church of San Cebrián, which was demolished in the 16th century and currently no longer exists. It is located next to the Torre del Marqués de Villena and the Cerca Vieja, the oldest part of the Wall.
According to legend, the devil himself taught necromancy classes in this space to seven students for seven years. After this time, one of them had to stay with him as payment for all the teachings. The Marquis of Villena was one of his students and when he had the bad luck to be chosen to remain with Satan, he fled, losing his shadow in the flight, a fact that made him remain marked for the rest of his days.
