House of Cervantes
Cervantes lived in this house during his stay in Valladolid in 1605.It gives the impression of a modest dwelling, built at the beginning of the 17th century. It has a brick façade and iron balconies with eaves. The doors in place have typical door panels and furniture: the priests armchairs and desks.
The building on the right is used as the administrative centre for the Academia de la Purísima Concepción. It is where the Academy archive is kept as well as a collection of portraits of venerable academics and another of King Carlos III.The house was opened to the public in 1916 as the library Biblioteca Cervantina Popular and in 1947 it underwent renovations to be opened again in 1948.
