The fourth of the convents, the Convent of Santa Teresa (the Order of the Discalced Carmelites) was founded in Valladolid on 10th August 1568. It was built on an estate next to the river, where, as the Saint said "we all fell ill". As a result, the order moved to another, healthier location donated by Doña María de Mendoza, which remains their permanent home in the present day. In 1968 the convent was named an ‘illustrious resident’ by the city, and both the street and the district where the convent is situated are known as ‘Rondilla de Santa Teresa’.
