El Puente of Valladolid, also known as the Iron Bridge, is one of the most characteristic and identifying historical urban elements of Valladolid, an iconic image of the city's relationship with the Pisuerga River.

Located next to the Prado Monastery, on the outskirts of the historic centre of Valladolid, its construction is a milestone in iron architecture in Spain, as it was the first bridge built in Spain and the fourth in Europe, with the cable-stayed arch system known as Bow-String. This system was presented at the Universal Exhibition in Paris, as the most advanced in English engineering. The first application of this system in Spain took place in Valladolid in 1865, with the Hanging Bridge and, although it was not widely accepted at first, it became popular in the early years of the 20th century.
