Church of Santa Maria la Nueva
Church built in the 12th century. It conserves the Romanesque trace in the apse and the southern wall, the rest being a reconstruction of later styles. It houses a Reclining Christ by Francisco Fermín. (XVII). With seven arches and one on each side supported by a capital without a column, and a XIII baptismal font, made of Zamora stone with lowered arches on columns with figures in relief that represent the baptism of Christ.
It was originally called the Church of San Román. It was burned down during the so-called Trout Mutiny (1158), which according to legend confronted nobles and commoners around the street food market, during the reign of Fernando II.
Inside, two curious cycles of linear Gothic wall paintings with scenes from the life of Christ and the Virgin have been preserved, in addition to a 16th-century Saint Christopher.
