The Salamanca City Council and the Castilian and Leonese Institute of Language are organizing on Monday, February 24, at 7:00 p.m., at the Salamanca Public Library - Casa de las Conchas, a session of Contando la música , the musical appreciation talk given by José Luis López Antón, director of the Avila Symphony Orchestra. This is an informative initiative born from the concern of this musician to bring the public closer to the ins and outs of the great masterpieces of classical music belonging to different genres.
Finland by Jean Sibelius is the title of the meeting that López Antón will hold with Salamanca fans; it is a proposal integrated into a series of conferences that is aimed at delving into different aesthetics and styles, providing the public with a global vision of the orchestral repertoire. Finland, opus 26 is a symphonic poem written by the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, originally written in 1899 and revised in 1900. It is a seven-minute musical piece that develops in a turbulent rhythm and style, with a great orchestral load and concluding with a hymn of hope. This musical piece symbolizes the oppression and struggle of the Finnish people against the Russian empire.
José Luis López Antón is considered one of the brightest promises of the new generation of orchestra conductors in Spain. He has also conducted the Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra (ORTVE), the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra (OSCyL), the Orchestra and Choir of the Community of Madrid (ORCAM), the Navarra Symphony Orchestra, the Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra, the Verum Orchestra, the Santa Cecilia Classical Orchestra, the Málaga Symphony Orchestra, the Castellón Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Segovia Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the Zamora Youth Symphony Orchestra, the COSCyL Contemporary Music Ensemble, and the In Crescendo Children's Orchestra of the OSCyL socio-educational project. He has also conducted at the National Music Auditorium in Madrid, the Palau de la Música in Barcelona and the Miguel Delibes Auditorium in Valladolid.
