Music is part of the DNA of poetry. From the epic poems of Classical Antiquity and the Middle Ages to Cuban improvisations and Puerto Rican décimas, from ballads to singer-songwriters, poetry throughout the centuries has been transmitted orally through music. Doce Sones para Doce Poetas is a novel and unique project that offers twelve poems by Spanish-speaking poets that have been set to music to be sung by the musician and philologist, Paco Díez. The chosen poems represent Spain and Latin America, along with US Hispanics and a Sephardic poet who writes in Ladino. The Twelve Poems will also be illustrated by a revealing audiovisual projection.
