The Sky of Sefarad is a co-production between the Teatro de la Zarzuela and Claroscuro Teatro, in collaboration with the Bislumbres Association, the Rinconada Town Hall and the Seville Early Music Festival (FeMÀS).

The show is set in Toledo in 1492 and is the story of a girl, Noa, separated from her friends for the simple fact of being Jewish. It is the story of her mother and grandmother who passed on to her their language, their music, their cooking and their customs. It is the story of her grandfather, a doctor and astronomer, who taught her not to hate and that of an abused cat who only talks to her. It is the story of Fatima, her Muslim friend and of Pedro, the Catholic boy who only becomes aware of the irreparable loss of her absence when his friend is gone and who terribly regrets having betrayed her.

Music plays a decisive role in the show. It is a beautiful repertoire of Sephardic, Christian and Andalusian music performed live by Enrique Pastor who plays the fiddle and plucked strings (zitola, lute and vihuela de mano) and María José Pire who sings and plays the flute and percussion. If the show is based on a conflict between cultures, its music reveals how diffuse or non-existent the borders between them were.

Noa's story is the story of all the children of Humanity who one day, without understanding why, had to leave their homes and abandon everything.

Genre: Theatre. Style: Comedy. Duration: 55 min.

Show included in the programming of Scenic Circuits of Castile and León.
