The Provincial Historical Archive of Salamanca has scheduled the EXHIBITION Postal Censorship, 1936-1945 for the last quarter of 2024 and the beginning of 2025.
The initiative is a response to a collaboration agreement with the Salamanca collector and researcher , Mr. José Luis Rodríguez Argüeso , who has selflessly donated a large part of the pieces in the exhibition.
The inviolability of correspondence did not exist during the Civil War or in the first years of the Franco dictatorship. Both military and civilian personnel ensured that all international correspondence was intercepted, and, as regards correspondence within the country, that of persons suspected of disaffection with the Regime or of those persons ordered by the military, civil and judicial authorities.
The exhibition will illustrate all these aspects, especially in the province of Salamanca , but also in the rest of Castile and León and a large part of Spain. Original documents and a series of other objects will be displayed to help us recreate the atmosphere of the time. The exhibition will also show some documents from the Provincial Historical Archives related to this topic.
The opening is scheduled for Wednesday, September 25, at 12:00 p.m. It will remain open at least until March 2025 and can be visited from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Guided tours are also available.
