Programmed at the Classic Theatre of London Festival 2018, in London (England). Faithful adaptation of the text by Calderón de la Barca endorsed by the Award for Best Work from the Network of Theatres of Castilla La Mancha, the Nomination for Best Work from the Junta de Andalucía and the Award for Best Actor at the Oropesa International Festival. The play has been performed more than 150 times, including at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid and performances in 2016 in France and Latin America.
Madrid, 1648. Madrid's theatres have been closed by royal order and actors are being persecuted. The proclamations of the bailiffs who record the ban take us into the basement of the famous Taberna del Turco, where a young actor performs the first verses of La Vida es Sueño. We soon discover that he is Sebastián de Prado, a famous comedian of the time. In addition to performing almost all of Calderón's verses, Sebastián will bring us closer to the Madrid of the Golden Age, to its theatrical life, he will tell us how the comedy corrals and the local companies worked, the ins and outs of the premiere of the play, anecdotes about its author, he will even show us a bundle of his family and ask us for help to use the props.
"The meaning of Bululú cannot be understood; it can only be felt. Calderón was never so palpable, so real, so worldly and so current as through the words of Jesús Torres. Classical theatre has come down from the altars and Jesús has placed it in a tavern where fools and clever people, children and adults, unbelievers and acolytes drink from the same jug and down the same porrón: that of the emotion and satisfaction of seeing a great actor give himself body and soul."
