THE DISAPPEARANCE OF THE FIREFLIES Poetry Concert-Recital The ancestral rite of the word and music

Héctor Castillejo, Carlos Herrero and Adal Pumarabín are the founders of the Afro-Iberian music group El Naán that explores the ethnic roots of the tradition.

These three creators are the genesis of the texts and music of the project, of the poetry and sounds on which their live performance is built, which combines traditional Iberian music with contemporary codes and timbres, and other sounds and rhythms that have influenced the Iberian tradition such as the back-and-forth rhythms from America, Arabic sounds or the most ancestral and atavistic roots hidden in our remote past.

This recital is a decanting of those poems and sounds that are the origin of the group's work.

Based on the collection of poems Dioses, ruines, semilla y canciones by Héctor Castrillejo, the recital becomes a rite of communion with the audience. Clay pots, bones, stones, pans and seeds woven with words, whose sounds speak to us of the physical and emotional collapse of a rural world that disappears, taking with it a vast wisdom that connects us with the earth, with cycles, with trades and with beauty.

Beneath the collapse of the mud houses of our villages there are germinating seeds, sounds, songs and words that sprout and resist.

Genre: Music. Style: Contemporary-Folk. Duration: 90 min.

Show included in the programming of the Network of Theatres of Castilla y León.
