The graphic novel Soy una asesina (I Am a Murderer) , created by Pedro Arjona, is an adaptation of Desgracias personales (Personal Misfortunes), written by Carlos Pérez Merinero (a legendary author of Spanish crime novels). The plot centers on Julia, a film editor who witnesses an attempted rape in Madrid. While helping the victim, Julia accidentally causes the death of the rapist, who turns out to be a police officer. This tragic event triggers a deep sense of guilt in her, which intensifies when she learns that the attacker's body has been found. The story explores the consequences of this act and how Julia tries to reconnect with the deceased police officer's family. Arjona highlights the central role of women in this emotionally charged and surprising narrative, where the narrative pace increases as the plot develops.
