This is a children's ballad belonging to the oral tradition, which is presented in this publication illustrated and accompanied by the music that spread this variant, recorded in the province of Zamora. A choir of children, directed by Sauri Oliveira, will be in charge of singing the ballad.
The presentation will discuss what a ballad is, what value it had years ago in our society and the importance in the transmission of events, some real and others figurative, as is the case of "our" warrior maiden. After this introduction, a group of boys and girls will sing the ballad accompanied on the piano by José María Mezquita Ramos, a great friend and collaborator of the authors.
This publication is part of the series of romances that the authors plan to publish about romances belonging to the children's repertoire, located throughout the nine provinces that make up the Castilian-Leonese region. The first romance was published six years ago, "Romance de los Reyes Católicos", collected in the province of Salamanca.
Julia Andrés Oliveira is Professor of Ethnomusicology at the Conservatory of Music of Castilla y León, occasional illustrator and project creator.
Antonio Vázquez Martín is a drawing teacher, visual artist, editor and dream designer.
José María Mezquita Ramos is a piano teacher at the Professional Conservatory of Music of Salamanca, a researcher and an excellent cook.
Sauri Oliveira García is a piano teacher at Musikea, a lover of the seasons and a "musiqueira" by definition.
