On Monday, May 19 at 7:30 p.m. , in the Audition Room of the Palencia Public Library, the writer Bárbara Espinosa will present her book ESPA ÑO LA.

Verónica takes refuge every night in a windowless room. On the other side of the door, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., she is a puppet. On the other side of that door, they dress her, cross-dressing her, in a navy blue straitjacket uniform, white apron, and a bun held together by hairpins that mercilessly prod her, immobilizing her brain.

A Spanish woman of a new century, where others clean up the drool and feces of the elderly, the bottoms of children, and the ones who give pleasure to husbands in industrial estates, on highways, and on roads. "ESPAÑO LA" they savor every syllable, "ESPAÑOLA" they pronounce every letter. But this hasn't always been the story of Verónica, who says she was once a hairdressing apprentice, a saleswoman in a clothing store, a cleaner at the airport.

Verónica retraces the path that has taken her from the south of the city to an idealized north, which beneath its gardens hides a hell more scorching than the Madrid desert from which she comes.

Free admission until full capacity.
