The Castilian-Leonese Institute of Language is organizing on Tuesday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m., at the Palacio de la Isla in Burgos, the presentation of the book FLOrecen hacia el olvido tus paSOS (Colección Caligramas, Universidad de Leon, 2024) by Justo Alejo from Zamora (Formariz, 1935-Madrid, 1979), in an edition coordinated by Manuel Ángel Delgado de Castro. The Burgos poet Luis Conde accompanies Delgado in the presentation of this publication.
Your steps bloom towards oblivion, belonging to the genre of visual poetry, collects a selection of calligrams that are set in the time between the publication of Alaciar (1965) and El aroma del viento (published posthumously in 1980). Manuel Ángel Delgado de Castro, also from Zamora, an expert in the poetic work of Justo Alejo and member of the Claudio Rodríguez Permanent Seminar, has been in charge of selecting the works in an edition that recovers the work of one of the most avant-garde authors from Zamora.
Justo Alejo rewrites the commitment that lies in the poetic avant-garde, reusing advertising through the breaking of language. His surprising visual poetry finds a place between the sonnet, the reflection on images and poetic or linguistic associations, the symbolism of advertising drawings and the suggestive use of popular poetry. Alejo employs an innovative, experimental and disruptive mode in his poetry, even avant-garde due to the revolutionary nature it brings to poetic communication - and its consequences.
His poetry rewrites the commitment that lies in the poetic avant-garde, reusing advertising through the physical and real rupture of language; where his surprising visual poetry finds a place between the sonnet, the reflection on images and poetic or linguistic associations, together with the symbolism of advertising drawings, or the suggestive use of popular language. Graduated in Philosophy, Sociology and Psychology, and a member of the Air Force brigade, Justo Alejo maintained an intense literary life writing articles on sociology, anthropology and literature in El Norte de Castilla, Triunfo, Cuadernos para el Diálogo, Trece de Nieve, Poesía and El País. Manuel Ángel Delgado has a degree in Philosophy and Letters, is a professor in Asturias and Castilla y León, was linked to the Ateneo Obrero de Gijón and was a Poetry instructor at the Universidad Popular de Gijón.
