The Castilian and Leonese Institute of Language and the Segovia Provincial Council are organizing on Friday, December 27 (6:00 p.m.), in the auditorium of the Ayllón Town Hall, the representation of the puppet show Miguel de Cervantes. El viaje de Isabela , by the company La Tartana, directed by Juan Muñoz and Inés Marto and adapted by Esther Pérez Arribas. This proposal is carried out in coordination with the zonal project Enclave Multicultural , focused on strengthening and coordinating culture in the northeast region of the province of Segovia.
Isabela's Journey is a puppet and actor play with live music, created by the company La Tartana for children and families. It tells a story of love and adventure inspired by the novel The English Spaniard by Miguel de Cervantes with a lot of humour and simplicity. The play tells the story of Isabela, her adventures and journeys, and the duel between true love represented by Ricaredo, her young lover who shows unconditional love and travels halfway around the world in search of her, as opposed to another suitor whose feelings are not so noble. Ships, storms, treasures, magic unicorns, a convent, castles, sword duels, kings and palaces, poisonings and horseback battles are the ingredients of this exciting and entertaining play, a free version of this exemplary novel by our most universal writer.
Esther Pérez Arribas, a graduate in Dramatic Art and Theatre Pedagogy and a graduate in Hispanic Philology, has been in charge of the adaptation of the play. Her training has continued through different theatrical, linguistic, literary and pedagogical disciplines. In addition to being a teacher at the School of Dramatic Art in Valladolid for 10 years, she has also been a teacher in the acting course of the Olmedo Classical Festival since its first edition. She is the author of numerous dramatic texts and adaptations and is specialized in adapting classical theatre for children's audiences. In 2019, the University of Valladolid published a volume with her texts in the Olmedo Classical collection.
