The Avila Public Library will host a literary gathering on the historical novel "Berenguela" by José Ángel Mañas . The event will feature the author himself in conversation with the Library's fiction reading clubs.
Mañas (Madrid 1971) is known for his successful debut "Historias del Kronen"
"Berenguela" (La Esfera de los Libros, 2023) is the novel with which Mañas closes his trilogy dedicated to the Reconquista. In it, he vindicates the figure of Berenguela I of Castile, daughter of Alfonso VIII, highlighting her crucial role in the definitive union of Castilla y León. Mañas considers Berenguela the most important queen of Spain after Isabella the Catholic.
This event will provide reading club members with the opportunity to delve deeper into the historical significance of Berenguela and engage directly with José Ángel Mañas about his work and the process of creating this historical novel.
It will be a unique opportunity to explore a key period in Spanish history with the help of its author.
