In the cradle of printing

A tribute to the work of early printers invites us to discover the richness of the incunabula collection held by the Soria Public Library.
This exhibition unfolds through a series of explanatory panels that invite visitors to delve into the legacy of the printing press, a milestone that transformed the way knowledge was shared.
The exhibition opens with a panel with a fundamentally didactic focus, which introduces the essential elements that identify incunabula.
One of the most notable sections is the tribute to the Bible, entitled " The Book of Books ," which presents two editions of the nearly 100 Latin Bibles published in the 15th century. It also features a panel on medieval chronicles, which merge historical facts with elements of oral tradition, under the title " The Ages of the World ."
The exhibition highlights one of the most ambitious publishing projects of the incunabula period, the first Latin edition of Hartmann Schedel's Liber Chronicarum, popularly known as the Nuremberg Chronicle printed by Korberger, considered the most important large-format illustrated secular work of the 15th century.
" The Art of Healing " explores medical texts and the impact that the invention of the printing press had on the dissemination of medical science, facilitating the circulation of ideas and discoveries among physicians and students.
Finally, " Voices of the Renaissance " completes this exhibition, highlighting the fundamental role of the printing press in the dissemination of humanist works.
