The Castilian and Leonese Institute of Language is organizing on Monday, November 25, at 7:30 p.m., at the Palacio de la Isla in Burgos, a new session of Contando la música, the proposed musical appreciation talk given by José Luis López Antón, director of the Avila Symphony Orchestra. This is an initiative born from the concern of this young musician to bring the public closer to the ins and outs of the great masterpieces of classical music; it has been scheduled periodically since 2023 at the Palacio de la Isla and in other cultural facilities in the Community, maintaining the same essence.
In this new session, López Antón will share details of Pinos de Roma , a symphonic poem for orchestra composed in 1924 by the Italian Ottorino Respighi. It is a piece that musically portrays in four movements various places in the Italian capital with pine trees, specifically those in the Villa Borghese gardens, near a catacomb, on the Janiculum Hill and along the Appian Way. This work is part of his Roman Trilogy , being the second of his three symphonic poems about the eternal city, after Fontane di Roma (1916) and prior to Feste romane (1928).
José Luis López Antón is considered one of the brightest promises of the new generation of orchestra conductors in Spain. He has also conducted the Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra (ORTVE), the Castile and León Symphony Orchestra (OSCyL), the Orchestra and Choir of the Community of Madrid (ORCAM), the Navarra Symphony Orchestra, the Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra, the Verum Orchestra, the Santa Cecilia Classical Orchestra, the Málaga Symphony Orchestra, the Castellón Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Segovia Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the Zamora Youth Symphony Orchestra, the COSCyL Contemporary Music Ensemble, and the In Crescendo Children's Orchestra of the OSCyL socio-educational project. He has also conducted at the National Music Auditorium in Madrid, the Palau de la Música in Barcelona and the Miguel Delibes Auditorium in Valladolid, among others.
