The Instituto Castellano y Leónés de la Lengua is extending its opening hours to the public during the Christmas holidays and is scheduling six new guided tours of the facilities during the last week of the year (26, 27 and 28 December) and the first week of 2025 (2, 3 and 4 January). The Christmas 2024 open days. Discover the Palacio de la Isla aim to bring the rich history of one of the most emblematic buildings in the capital of Burgos closer to locals and tourists during these dates, as well as to publicise the research work on the origins of Spanish and the promotion of literature and culture that the institution carries out in Burgos and the rest of Castilla y León.

Guided tours - free of charge with prior reservation - are conducted by professionals from the Burgos Guides Association. In addition, visitors also have the option of visiting and touring the building independently by accessing a QR code on the website www.ilcyl.com/visita which is marked at various points in the building.

The current exhibition offering is made up of the new exhibition El vuelo del mirlo. Los primeros años de una revista que trina (The Flight of the Blackbird. The First Years of a Trilling Magazine) , an exhibition that recreates the first 21 issues of the photography and literature magazine Mirlo , a publication founded in 2022 by the photographer and designer Asís G. Ayerbe and the Burgos writer Óscar Esquivias, curators of the exhibition. For its part, the Aula Artesa presents original documents from the Burgos visual and avant-garde poetry magazine of the same name directed by Antonio L. Bouza in the 1970s.

Likewise, Rafael Lamata's The Almanac of the Present is an invitation to reflect for a few minutes a day. The Aula de los Orígenes del Español (first floor) presents a selection of facsimile editions and La Torre encantada is a look at the dream world of the Leonese poet Adolfo Alonso Ares. In the gardens of the Palacio de la Isla, Galaxia Crítica remembers the writers who won the Castilla y León Critics' Prize.
