Also called reservoir of Arija, is located halfway between the town of Cantabria, Campoo-Los Valles, and the town of Burgos Las Merindades, whose water from the Ebro, Híjar, Izarilla and some other rivers of minor flow, are collected. It was finished in 1952, has a capacity of 541 hm3 and is one of the largest reservoirs in Spain, with a great landscape and ornithological interest, besides of being an excellent area for playing various water sports.
