The Sea and Other Inconveniences draws us into a profound immersion in human life and its mystery. A straddle a microscopic taste for detail and an astonished gaze that transports each story beyond its own horizon. A chameleon-like style that reconciles thought and emotion. The plasticity of a language that never renounces the silence of the unspoken. That tensely straddles the irony of denunciation and the vertigo of the poem. Beneath what we don't want to see, these stories lurk shadows, past or yet to come, among which we perceive the melancholy of triumph at times, the strength of failure at others, and what time does to us, always, as we pass by. As we read and are read.
