STRIP-TEASE

A SURREALIST PLOT, FULL OF IRONY.

Due to undefined external events, Mr. A and Mr. B are forced through a door into a claustrophobic room . They are two ordinary men, who argue, trying to understand why they are there, what brought them to such a bewildering place.

To their surprise, they receive an unusual visitor, an extraordinary presence giving them threatening orders to strip. They sense that it's someone who has the power to control them, to punish them if they don't obey, that their lives depend on it, and that something terrible has happened outside... They have a plan to escape the humiliating striptease, although it won't be easy to get out...

A provocative comedy, with an ending that viewers will find hard to forget.

"No matter how much control you think you have, you'll end up naked."

BOLD REFLECTION ON FREEDOM AND THE DANGER OF AUTHORITARIANISM

The renowned Polish author Slawomir Mrozek wrote this surreal comedy in 1962, in the midst of the Cold War, within the genre of absurdist theater. After the Second World War, peace opens the way for a fractured and skeptical continent. This play is a child of that time when the world and its beliefs were divided. The play premiered in Spain in 1967, in a stage version by Ángel Facio, with the legendary company Los Goliardos, causing a theatrical scandal.

Today, 60 years later, we reclaim it as a proposal full of irony, intelligence, and astonishing relevance; in the face of a world bewildered by its own frivolity and decline in principles, in the face of powers that be wholly unconcerned except to lull us into consumerism and do-gooder politics... and in the face of the threat of a world war that seemed forgotten, but that could reappear behind the door when we least expect it, with a firm hand, to shatter our fragile well-being.
