The Juan Catalina Theater Company offers us its new show, Gepetto.
It is inspired by Carlo Collodi's story of Pinocchio, showcasing traditions and curious characters from our land.
Gepetto is a puppet show with an actor. The protagonist, a wise carpenter, shows us some of the characters he has created, along with their different stories. At the same time, we see what games and toys were like in the past, small musical instruments, and how he built them in his own workshop.
Old games and toys, simple instruments, and the desire to create.
With his unique way of telling stories, Juan Catalina transports us to another time and place, helping us learn to value what we have more and worry less about what we lack.
About the Juan Catalina Theater Company
After participating in several theater groups, numerous training courses in different disciplines, attending numerous festivals, and learning through self-directed work, Juan Catalina embarked on his solo career in 1995 and decided to form his own theater company. With this company, he has been touring theaters across Spain for over 30 years, producing around twenty plays.
Creator and producer of its own shows, the company has worked tirelessly to rescue almost forgotten customs, sayings, and traditional crafts, transforming the tools and implements of its ancestors, as well as the customs and knowledge of the rural world, into puppets or music.
