Elena Fortún's life is full of light and shadow. A successful writer of the Celia saga, which captivated several generations of children (especially girls) in Spain, she lived through the years of cultural splendor before and during the Republic, suffered a heartbreaking exile and several traumatic personal events, as well as a sexuality that was never fully revealed. Her figure, her adult novels, a lost and recovered manuscript, all of this has made her a legendary writer, a cult author with a legion of fans who seek to perpetuate her name and who are already known as "celiacs."
With her magnificent storytelling skills and from a new and original perspective, María Montesinos dares to tell the story of the life of this almost unknown but tremendously fascinating character.
María Montesinos has a degree in Journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid and has worked in both the media and social communication. Her books "Un destino propio", "Una pasión escrita" and "Una decisión inevitable" have been acclaimed by critics and readers, and have become bestsellers. Together they form a fictional trilogy about the first women who fought to practice their profession at the end of the 19th century.
With this novel, "I will call you Celia", María Montesinos pays tribute to Elena Fortún, one of the most unknown, but at the same time most widely read, writers in Spain.
