The Segovia City Council and the Castilian and Leonese Institute of the Language are organizing a new session of "Contando la música" (Telling Music) next Monday, April 21st, at 7:00 p.m. in the Segovia Public Library. This music appreciation talk will be given by José Luis López Antón, principal conductor of the Avila Symphony Orchestra. This initiative was born from the young musician's desire to bring the public closer to the intricacies of the great masterpieces of classical music; this is a proposal that has been programmed periodically since 2023 in different cultural facilities in the Community, maintaining the same essence.

In this new session, López Antón will share with the Segovia audience details of Pinos di Roma , a symphonic poem for orchestra composed in 1924 by the Italian Ottorino Respighi. It is a piece that musically portrays in four movements various places in the Italian capital with pine trees, specifically those in the Villa Borghese gardens, near a catacomb, on the Janiculum Hill and along the Appian Way. This work is part of his Roman Trilogy , being the second of his three symphonic poems about the eternal city, after Fontane di Roma (1916) and previous to Feste romane (1928).

José Luis López Antón is considered one of the brightest promises of the new generation of orchestra conductors in Spain. He has also conducted the Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra (ORTVE), the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra (OSCyL), the Orchestra and Choir of the Community of Madrid (ORCAM), the Navarra Symphony Orchestra, the Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra, the Verum Orchestra, the Santa Cecilia Classical Orchestra, the Málaga Symphony Orchestra, the Castellón Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Segovia Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the Zamora Youth Symphony Orchestra, the COSCyL Contemporary Music Ensemble, and the In Crescendo Children's Orchestra of the OSCyL socio-educational project. He has also conducted at the National Music Auditorium in Madrid, the Palau de la Música in Barcelona and the Miguel Delibes Auditorium in Valladolid, among others.
