On Monday, March 17, at 6:30 p.m., a lecture by José Manuel Trabado, on the occasion of the celebration of "Comic Book Day."

José Manuel Trabado (1971) earned his doctorate with a thesis on the poetry of Cervantes that was published by the CSIC under the title Poetics and Pragmatics of Lyrical Discourse. The Pastoral Songbook of Galatea.

He is currently a professor of Theory of Literature and Comparative Literature at the University of Leon. He has published books such as Lyrical Reading. Pragmatic Sieges of Poetic Texts or Nomadic Writing. Generic Frontiers in the Contemporary Short Story. His studies on comics include the monographs Before the Graphic Novel. Comic Book Classics in the North American Press (Cátedra, 2012) and The Graphic Novel. Poetics and Narrative Models (Arco Libros 2013).

He has dedicated articles to authors such as Art Spiegelman, Chris Ware, André Juillard, Miguelanxo Prado, Paco Roca, etc. and has addressed aspects such as biography, diary, terrorism, the relationship between drawing and photography within graphic narration as well as panoramic texts such as the one dedicated to fantastic comics in Spain included in the book coordinated by David Roas, Historia de lo infinito en la cultura española (1900-2015), Madrid, Vervuert, 2017.

Between 2007 and 2012 he launched a series of summer courses on comics and animated films. Since 2016, the University of Leon 's Publications Service has promoted the creation of a collection of studies on comics and graphic narration called Grafikalismos.

He is a principal investigator at greconagra (Comic and Graphic Narration Studies Group).
