The first town on the route in the municipality of San Ildefonso-La Granja, nestling in the so-called Valsaín Hills, an area of vast environmental and economic value thanks to the autochthonous pine that grows here.
In 1552 Philip II commissioned the architect Luís de Vega to build a palace here, although it was burnt to the ground during the devastating fire of 1697.
This town is also the site of the Church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario and the Valsaín Royal Sawmill.
