This town is today the centre of the municipality. Its origins are linked to the monastery that stood here in the 11th century yet which today is merely a historical memory. Santa Elena conserves the traditional irrigation systems: shafts and waterwheels to draw water from the wells, vital elements in this traditional farming region which was also a major centre for the production of bricks and roof tiles.
This town is also the site of the Parish Church of Santa Elena.
