Calzada de Béjar is a small village huddled around the church and just two streets, typical of these ‘street-route’ towns. The main thoroughfare is the Roman road, lined by traditional houses with their flower-filled balconies. On a nearby hilltop stands an ancient Roman fort that was used to watch over the route. The rugged landscape is dotted with hills and meadows, forming a stunningly beautiful setting.
