A historic town of great importance in the past and which today draws large numbers of tourists thanks to its many festivals and traditions. ‘Alixa’ is the original name of Greek origin, meaning ‘point of contact between people’. The town is home to large numbers of documents dating back to between the 10th and 13th centuries, and even boasts traces of the days of the Romans.
Visitors can still admire many examples of popular architecture among its buildings.
This town also includes the following sites of interest: the Town Hall, Plaza Mayor and the Church of San Verísimo, the Palace-Castle of the Pimentel family, the Church of San Esteban and the Jewish Quarter.
