One of the prominent places on this route is Salamanca, with a historical and monumental heritage of great value, where you can make a stop at the Historical building of the University of Salamanca, where San Juan de la Cruz studied theology. The saint stayed at the Colegio del Carmen Calzado de San Andrés, some of whose archaeological remains can be seen during the visit to the Snow Pit. There is also a sculpture of San Juan in Arroyo de Santo Domingo street, very close to the place where that monumental school was.
Also at the University we can visit the Fray Luis de León Classroom, preserved as it was when he pronounced his famous words "As we said yesterday ..." and see his statue in the Patio de Escuelas, in front of the monumental Plateresque façade.
