Somaén is on the side of a hill, on the top of which is a castle that dominates the whole ravine. This beautiful town may be of Moorish origin.
Somaén has kept its medieval character, with its elegant, adobe-brick houses. Among its historical monuments, the church, the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Visitación and the chapel, the Ermita de la Soledad lies on the outskirts of the town.
