Leaving the almost uninhabited town of Caracena behind with its impressive castle, you arrive at Navapalos. This was where El Cid slept on his last night on Castilian soil. The minstrel tells us that in Figueroa, a meadow on the outskirts of the town, the angel Gabriel appeared in our hero's dreams to console him and told him this: "Ride, Cid, most noble Campeador, for never yet did knight ride forth upon an hour whose aspect was so bright. While thou shalt live good fortune shall be with thee and shine. When he awoke, upon his face he made the holy sign.".
Moreover, in this village you can find: the Arabian watchtower and the church.
