The building has a classical layout of two open floors with a square central courtyard and a rectangular section in the far north-western part. The baroque dome in the chapel by Pedro Portela is a highlight. The central balcony of the upper floor is situated between two niches holding the images of Saint Francis and Saint Sebastian. It is crowned by an ornamental comb with a niche between spiral columns and the image of Saint Augustine. On either sides of the façade there are two towers crowned by a spire in three sections.
