The origins of the current Palencia Museum lie in the union of two archaeological collections that were brought together in Palencia during the second half of the 19th century, allowing for the construction of the first institutional museum.

This museum houses a large number of exhibits that give visitors a clear idea of the province’s archaeological evolution from the Palaeolithic Era to the Modern Age. Highlights include the collections dating back to the days of the Vaccaei and the Romans, although the items on display also include objects from the Visigoth period. In addition, there is a room dedicated to religious art. This is unquestionably a museum that is rich in history and is well worth exploring.
