Located in the former church of San Gil, it houses the essential core of the legacy that the artist left the Spanish state shortly before his death. There are 51 pieces in total that represent animal sculpture, with which he achieved worldwide fame, portraits and human figures, among which "La Bather" stands out.

All these works were made in direct carving, on very hard stones, and in addition to the Mateo Hernández de Béjar Museum, works by the famous sculptor are preserved all over the world.

On the second floor of this museum we can currently enjoy the work of other sculptors, such as the Bejarano artist Francisco González Macías, in addition to the different works awarded in the biennials that have been held in Béjar since 1994.
